Welcome to Reclamation's Pseudomane! NEW Reclamation Variant for ASA - NOT ported from ASE's ARK: Reclamation.
(And before you ask: YES, ARK Fantastic Tames - Pyromane is required. Unfortunately, there's no way around that)
Since it's release, the Pyromane seems to have rubbed some people the wrong way - if not JUST because it's basically a reskin of the Shadowmane (Sure, they have different movesets and abilities. I'm talking meshes and animations), but because it was also a PAY-to-use ("Freemium") creature.
But once the Pyromane made it's way to the Dev Kit and I got 100% confirmation that - placing them side-by-side - the Shadowmane and Pyromane, while differing functionally, VISUALLY moved almost identically... it got me thinking... MAYBE I can make a hybrid of this? So, I started brainstorming, dove into Blender, and got to work IN and OUT of the Kit... Now, here we are! It's not perfect and there's probably some things I could do better, but I'm personally pleased with the result. Let's get to talking about THE PSEUDOMANE!!!
As all hybrids are, the goal is typically a constant "give-and-take" to make the best BEAST overall, so this is what I came up with:
- Stats wise: Equivalent to the Shadowmane
- Damage wise: Equivalent to the Pyromane
- Attacks: Equivalent to the Pyromane
- Functions: Based off of the Pyromane; ex: You can ride it AND transform it to a shoulder mount; Also cooks meat in it's inventory
- Taming: Identical to the Pyromane
- Diet: Pescavore (Shadowmane wasn't "necessarily" a Pescavore, but you had to tame it using fish so I wanted to let THAT aspect of it carry over to it's general diet and what's the MOST efficient to feed it once tamed)
- Animations: MOSTLY Pyromane, but select animations - such as swimming and sleeping - are from the Shadowmane
- Movement speed on the land is identical to the Pyromane, but in water movement speed has been increased to the speeds of the Shadowmane
- While the Shadowmane was able to have "packs" and had a pack buff, since the Pseudomane is primarily based off of the Pyromane I decided to let it have "gangs" of 6 instead
- Like the Shadowmane, Pseudomane gain a "Hydrated" buff while in the water... which means, unlike the Pyromane who simply gets debuffed when doused, the Pseudomane gains that temporary buff instead gaining Speed, Health Regeneration, and Damage (which will make taming these potentially a bit more challenging)
- They CAN carry artifacts, which makes them one of the "go-to" mounts to take on artifact runs
- They still explode when killed... so proceed with caution
- Pseudomane can be healed by fire-based attacks (any custom modded fire attacks from other mods - depending on how they're set up - could still potentially harm them)
SPAWNS are two-fold:
- As of this moment, Pseudomane have a 50% chance to spawn in place of the Pyromane (and - once Genesis: Part 2 releases... whenever the heck that is at this point... end of 2026 at the earliest PROBABLY haha - Pseudomane will have a 50% chance to spawn in place of the Shadowmane)
- Pseudomane currently spawn in the following regions: ----- The Island: Dead Island ----- Scorched Earth: Dunes ----- Aberration: Element Chamber ----- Extinction: Sulfur Fields
