Bed Spawn Scanner

Preview bed spawn viability and scan nearby locations with a color-coded 3D visualization.

Find out where beds are likely to work before committing to a build.

Bed Spawn Scanner checks the bed spawn point at your survivor’s current position. A persistent status indicator displays VALID BED in green or INVALID BED in red.

For a larger survey, hold R and select one of the available scan sizes:

  • 1x: Approximately 2,500 units of radius
  • 2x: Approximately 5,000 units of radius
  • 5x: Approximately 12,500 units of radius

The scan creates a three-dimensional, color-coded snapshot:

  • Green voxels: Predicted valid bed spawn points
  • Red voxels: Predicted locations blocked by world geometry without a qualifying volume exception

Each location is evaluated independently, including positions above and below the survivor. The visualization remains anchored where the scan began, allowing you to move around and inspect it. Starting another scan removes the previous snapshot and scans your new location.

Open Bed Scanner Settings from the R radial menu to customize the visualization:

  • Independently hide or show valid and invalid bed spots
  • Decrease or increase voxel opacity

Display changes affect the existing snapshot immediately without clearing it or running the scan again.

Bed Spawn Scanner targets ARK’s world-geometry obstruction behavior for bed spawns, including qualifying structure-volume exceptions. It is especially useful when planning cave bases, ratholes, enclosed builds, and elevated structures where being able to place a bed does not necessarily mean its spawn point will work.

Larger scans contain substantially more locations and are processed progressively to reduce freezing. They may take some time to finish, particularly at 5x size. The results are a planning preview; unusual map-specific restrictions or behavior introduced by other mods may still affect the actual bed.

Multiplayer: The server must have the mod enabled. Joining players will download the mod through the normal server mod process.

Single-player: Install and activate the mod before loading the world.

This mod does not add new beds or alter their crafting requirements. It provides a persistent bed-status indicator, an optional area-scanning tool, and client-side visualization controls.
