Tylosaurus rex is a new species of giant marine reptile in the Mosasauridae family, announced in May 2026. It was described following a re-examination of fossils previously identified as Tylosaurus proriger, and is an apex predator known as the “T. rex of the Sea” due to its massive head, serrated teeth, and overwhelming size.
