IT IS HIGHLY RECCOMENDED TO DO A DINOWIPE AFTER UPDATES AS SOME DINOS MAY LOSE THEIR INNATE KILL TIMERS AND ALLOW SPAWNS TO OVERLAP
Corruption Unbound expands on element corruption -literally! Adding a new, dangerous element to Ark, this mod allows element corruption to manifest in real time through ‘nests’ that will slowly spread out throughout the maps. Any wild creature entering these contaminated zones will slowly die, before returning as corrupted. Tamed creatures that are attacked by infected risk slowly gaining corruption, so equip yourself well before risking entering the nest zones.
Not only does this create a traversal hazard for players, but these nests grow overtime -expanding their arsenal of both vanilla corrupted dinos and fully custom monstrosities! So take care to arm yourself with purification tools and battle the element infestation, or the corruption will seek you out and send afflicted creatures to destroy everything you hold dear!
NOTE: This mod is currently compatible with Island, Scorched Earth, Aberration and Extinction maps. Other maps will be added when possible!
Custom PureForm Corrupteds:
Corrupted_Character_BP_Colossus_C
Corrupted_Character_Bp_Maw_C
Corrupted_Character_Bp_Skitterling_C
Edited Corrupteds:
Ptero_Character_BP_Corrupt_CUB_C
Dilo_Character_BP_Corrupt_CUB_C
More edited corrupteds will be added as more abilities for them are thought up. Currently Stego, Arthropleura, rex, Giga, and Paracer have an ability in the works.
Tips!
-The corruption can easily infect players wearing little to no armor, make sure you wear a full set of ANY ARMOR to lower your chances of getting corrupted and to lower how quickly the corruption takes you. Gas masks help a bunch here with Tek and Hazard suits practically making it so you can walk through a corrupted area without much worry. Be careful though, corruption inflicted by attacks from corrupted creatures will still have the same chance to apply, regardless of your armor (5% normally 10% for skitterlings).
-Killing corrupted to get element dust is the quickest way to get to a the Purifying injector. Once you have one it makes traveling through corrupted territories a lot easier as the buff will prevent you from getting corrupted all together, even better it will cure any corruption you have as well. Eventually you'll be able to get the Purification gun and that's when you can really fight back!
-Keep note of core nests and only destroy them with things OTHER than a purification gun as a last resort. Core nests will respawn when destroyed and even worse their respawn location will be random. It's best to just keep note of where they are if you can and avoid letting their corrupted spread around much if possible. But don't let them get too big if you can help it. It's better to destroy them before they are too big as once they are level 3 they will begin trying to take over the map by spawning new nests. (There are 4 core nests on the current difficulty. but once the others are added it will be 2 for easy and 6 for hard).
-Dinos corrupt slower than players but they have no ways to mitigate the speed of corruption outside of that. It's best to wait until you have an injector or prepare to lose that dino if you take it into a corruption zone. (On hard mode your tamed creature will join the corrupted temporarily and attack everything in your base).
-The purification gun has a short aoe effect on impact with it's shots. This applies a short term purified buff that lasts about 60 seconds. However this can be applied to all to a large amount of dinos at once so if you want to play a more supportive roll just shoot around your dinos while they fight!
-Skitterlings have a high chance to corrupt things and will prioritize corrupting new targets MORE than killing current ones if they have a choice. It's best to kill them asap to slow the spread of corruption. Be careful though, they will leap towards their intended targets from a decent distance and like all pure form corrupted they can breath underwater and swim decently well.
-Maws have pretty high damage for their size and fly fairly quickly only barely being outpaced by a ptero. They can spit a poison at foes that has similar effect to dilo venom but they aren't particularly keen to do so. They have a tendency to not stray TOO far from the nest so unless they are chasing prey you shouldn't find them out and about.
-Colossus are rare to see but deadly to encounter. They deal massive damage, can throw rocks and worst yet they can burrow to your location if you try to escape from them. Luckily they aren't particularly fast and they can't burrow in quick succession. It's best to avoid fighting one head on if you can and keep your distance if at all possible to whittle them down from afar.
