Tranqs Reforged - Mod ID: 1449037
This mod is balanced with an intended need of farming and effort of acquisition in mind. The crafting requirements are not easy by design for late game options to give some resources in the game a reason to be acquired and for balance.
Any changes to crafting requirements or similar must be done inside game.ini (Can be copied out of the Info Sheet)
The mod reworks the progression and acquisition of tranqs with high-end options, tame helpers and a new weapon for shooting darts and syringes. Strength increases multiplier range from 1.2 to 100.0 for narcotics and 0.6 to 9.0 for Tranq ammunition, compared to the vanilla counterpart.
Last Update: 19.09.2026
- Expanded projectile life time to make pick ups easier.
- Expanded projectile pick up radius.
- Projectile survival chance overhauled.
- Minor crafting changes to injector arrow casings, injector bolt casings and harpoon rods to balance the crafting costs with the projectile survival chances in place. (Structues need to be picked up and placed again to get those changes)

Projectile, weapon and structure changes
The first new ammunition can be unlocked at level 10, the last options unlock at level 150. For details refer the progression chart in the gallery or the info sheet at the bottom of the description.
Projectiles
- The projectile's speed, gravity and underwater behaviors are changed for all projectiles. These characteristic changes only depend on projectile type/ which weapon is used to fire the projectile, not on which tier of projectile is fired.
- Each projectile kind has different values for instantly applied torpidity and over time applied torpidity. Early game options tend to apply most of the torpidity over time and the time to apply is longer. The proportions of instantly to prolonged applied torpidity as well as the time frame to apply the prolonged torpidity does improve with mid to late game options.
- Boulders and cannonballs are now crafted in the smithy.
- Rocket Launcher rockets are faster than the vanilla ones.
Dedicated weapon ammunition
- Bow uses wood arrows.
- Crossbow uses bolts.
- Compound bow uses Injector arrows, can use wood arrows.
- Fabricated Crossbow can use wood arrows, bolts and injector bolts.
- Pneumatic rifle uses darts and syringes.
Projectile Survival Chance
Each projectile has a chance to not break on impact. You can pick up the projectile to get one part back to craft new ammunition, the narcotic is consumed obviously. This system works for nearly every projectile, the only exclusions are boulders, cannonballs and rockets.
Weapons
- Bow: The minimal draw distance is much higher than vanilla for balance reasons.
- Compound Bow: The minimal draw distance is much higher than vanilla for balance reasons. The shake on full draw is strongly reduced because of the nature of the weapon.
- Fabricated crossbow: Most efficient in Marksman mode, marksman mode consumes 2 instead of 3 ammunition per shot. The spread mode is the least efficient, it applies a high amount of torpor instantly, but the prolonged effect is only applied once so a lot of torpor is lost. Normal mode is somewhere inbetween.
- Pneumatic rifle: Used to fire darts and syringes. The reload animation is faster than the longneck rifle.
Structures
- Catapults ammo selection is finicky, replacing fixes most problems. Only having the ammunition you want to use in your inventory works best.
- Cannons needs propelant charges and a cannonball to be able to fire.
Tame Helpers, resources and Autoinjectors
Included in this mod are variouse items to make taming easier. With these items you can make taming easier with some effort needed instead of just moving sliders in the game settings. This gives another layer of manipulating taming to adjust settings to your liking.
Tame Helpers
There are two types:
- Affinity acceleration helpers helper comes in herbivore and carnivore form. Only the fitting tame helper can be used depending on the dino's diet, both work on omnivores. These need herbivore, carnivore, and substrate dino resources to be crafted.
- Knockout helpers are dino specific and increase the rate at which torpor is applied. These need the specific dino resources to be crafted.
And two forms:
- Consumables can be used like the Sanguine Elixir, put it in your hotbar and aim at the dino to use the item. You have to get pretty close to the dinos.
- Grenades can be thrown and thus applied from a distance and affect all dinos in the vicinity. Be aware of different negative effects on players, protect yourself with a mask or hazard suit!
Important Details:
- There can only be one tame helper active per type.
- More effective tame helpers can overwrite less effective ones but not the other way around.
- You know if a tame helper is in effect by checking the dino's buffs and seeing the visual effect on the dino.
- Tame helpers can be applied mid tame and if the tame affinity gained is already greater than the needed tame affinity the dino is tamed instantly.
Tame Helpers crafting and resource yields
Crafting tame helpers needs new resources that drop from dinos of the respective kind, there are four different types:
- Herbivore in 4 different tiers needed for affinity acceleration herbivore tamehelper, acquired from herbivore and omnivore dinos.
- Carnivore in 4 different tiers needed for affinity acceleration carnivore tamehelper, acquired from carnivore and omnivore dinos.
- Substrate in 4 different tiers needed for affinity acceleration herbivore and carnivore tamehelper, acquired from dinos with effects like applying torpor or stamina drain. For example, boas, spiders, and scorpions.
- Specific needed for knockout helpers of specific dinos, acquired from the dinos the tamehelper is for.
The amount and kind of resource you get depend different factors:
- The stronger the dino the higher the yield and/or tier.
- Higher level dinos have higher chance to yield resources.
- Baby dinos will yield fewer resources than mature ones.
- Alpha dinos will yield many more resources and multiple tiers.
- Dinos can provide multiple resources of the same tier.
Important Details:
- The player or tame which does the killing blow gets the resource.
- Only wild dinos and bosses will provide you resources for the tame helper, so spare your tames and unclaimed babys.
- The drop system utilizes a buff on wild dinos, all dinos get buffed once the mod is installed so no dino wipe is needed.
Autoinjectors
You can craft autoinjectors with each narcotic, including the vanilla one. To use them just put the injector inside the knocked out dino's inventory, you can check that they work if a buff appears on the dino.
At that point, the autoinjector checks the knocked out dino torpor and applies itself when a low-end threshold of torpidity is reached or the auto injectors effect can fully apply. If multiple auto injectors are inside the dino's inventory, the most appropriate one will be used.
Item Stat Display
All narcotics, ammunition and tamehelper have specific stats displayed in the description to quantify how powerful an item is compared to others and make the decision on what to use easier.
Displayed are things like:
- Total torpidity applied and health restored over time.
- Total torpidity applied for projectiles.
- Instant to prolonged torpidity applied ratio.
- Time to apply prolonged torpidity.
- Tame helper effects on taming.
- Autoinjector injection threshold.
After changing game user settings values are changed the stat display in item descriptions only updates when refreshing items, which can be done by moving them in inventories. Even without doing that the updated values are in effect.
Loot container adjustments
The new weapon and ammunitions are added to the loot pool at runtime. The vanilla tranq ammunitions are overwritten by appropiate ammunition from this mod and some new early to mid range ammunitions are added.
Important Changes and Information
- The mod's narcotics can be used for everything in the game the vanilla ones can be used for [Medical Stand, feeded to tames to knock out for example Acrocanthosaurus]
- Shocking darts got renamed to syringes.
- Darts and syringes use the new pneumatic rifle.
- Fire hardened arrows are built inside campfires.
- Cannonballs and boulders are built inside the smithy now.
- The cannon needs an extra cannon propellant charge to be able to fire.
- New ammunition and narcotics are found in the loot tables and replace the vanilla variants, the pneumatic rifle gets added to loot tables too.
- Vanilla torpor ammunition engrams are disabled.
- Many dino and structure mods are compatible, for detailed information refer the info sheet below.
Known problems
The Catapult:
- When the catapult does not switch ammo you have to pick it up and place it back down again.
- The ammo selection order is: T4 boulder -> Jar of Pitch -> T3 boulder -> T2 boulder -> T1 boulder. Having just the ammunition you want to use in your inventory is best practice for now.
- Some game update broke the rendering of projectiles on the catapult, the projectile looks the same loaded on the catapult for each ammunition. The ammo icon above the hotbar and shows the correct one and the fired projectile is rendering correct too.
