Welcome to Stardew Valley modding! This starter kit is designed to let new farmers like you explore what mods can do in a simple, beginner-friendly way.

What You Can Do

Smarter Farming

  • Change the coverage of each type of sprinkler.
  • Activate sprinklers manually whenever you want.
  • View sprinkler and scarecrow coverage.
  • Grow crops and fruit trees in any season and location, even on tiles you normally couldn’t till.
  • Place a chest next to a machine and it will auto-feed raw items and collect finished ones.
  • Buy a tractor to clear land and work more efficiently.

Less Running Around

  • Access your chests, dressers, fridge, shipping bin, and Junimo huts from anywhere.
  • Rent a replacement tool while Clint is upgrading yours.
  • Access shop services even when the shop owner isn’t there.

Travel Made Easy

  • Travel to new destinations (other mods’ locations) by boat, bus, or train.
  • Summon your horse anywhere - even in the mines.
  • Horses can now fit through smaller gaps.
  • Explore the endless, mysterious Deep Woods, filled with challenges and secrets.

Stay Informed

  • Instantly check the calendar, quests, or special requests from anywhere.
  • See NPC and player positions live on the map with an optional minimap.
  • See live info with one button press: favourite gifts, crop harvest times, fence health, animal moods, and more.
  • Adds labels so you instantly know if an item is a loved gift.
  • New interface shows if you’ve petted your animals today.
  • Overlay the world with data layers: bee/Junimo/scarecrow/sprinkler coverage, hidden paths, warps, and more.
  • Quickly zoom out to view the whole map, then zoom back in.
  • Replaces the Golden Clock with a more natural design.

Smoother Play

  • Speeds up long animations (watering, planting, chopping, etc.) to under a second.
  • Skip the intro logos when starting the game.

Visual & Cosmetic Tweaks

  • Fixed the mouse house (Content Patcher fix).
  • Rustic retexture of the Traveling Cart, with a wild boar instead of the pig.
  • Graphical replacement for toddlers with new outfits, hair, eyes, skin tones, and costumes (including seasonal/Halloween options).
  • Adds a button to the main menu that links straight to Nexus Mods.

 

Common Questions

Do I need to install anything else first?
No. Everything you need is included in this collection.

Can I uninstall later?
Yes. Remove the collection with one click and your game goes back to normal.

Will this change the feel of Stardew?
No. The game still plays the same - these are quality-of-life upgrades that reduce hassle without changing the charm.

Do I need to learn about modding or coding?
No. Installation is one click with our premium membership, and only a few more for free users. All the advanced setup has already been done for you.

What if something goes wrong?
Check the SMAPI log (the black box that appears when you launch the game) for more details. If you need help, you can ask in our Discord server or leave a comment.

 

How to Install

Getting started is simple:

  1. Download a mod manager. For Stardew Valley, we reccomend the Nexus Mods app.
  2. Hit the 'add collection' button and 'continue'.
  3. Press 'auto-download all' in the app and 'install collection'*
  4. Hit the big orange 'apply' button on the left-hand sidebar, then 'play' to try your newly modded game.

That’s it. No extra setup, no extra tools - everything you need is included.

 

Key Controls

These are the main shortcuts you’ll use in-game.
These can be changed in the settings from the title screen (via the cog button) or in-game (at the bottom of the in-game options menu)

Farming & Sprinklers

  • Edit Sprinkler Coverage → Press K to change how many tiles each sprinkler waters
  • Activate Sprinklers Manually → Right-click (or controller A) to turn on the highlighted sprinkler
  • View Sprinkler/Scarecrow Coverage → Press F3 to show the range of the highlighted sprinkler

Calendar & Quests

  • Calendar → Press B or use the button in the inventory menu
  • Quests → Press H or use the button in the inventory menu
  • Special Orders → Press N (unlocked later)
  • Qi’s Challenges → Press J (unlocked later)

Storage & Organisation

  • Chests Anywhere → Press B to access chests, dressers, fridge, shipping bin, or Junimo huts from anywhere

Planning & Data

  • Overlays (coverage, paths, etc.) → Press F2
  • Cycle Overlays → Use Left Ctrl + Right Ctrl to switch between layers

Travel & Horses

  • Summon Horse → Use the horse flute or press H (configurable), works anywhere
  • Tractor → Buy the tractor garage from Robin, then ride to plough, plant, harvest, and clear land
  • Summon Tractor → Press Backspace (configurable)

Learning & Info

  • Lookup Anything → Hover and press F1 to see details on items, crops, or NPCs
  • Search → Press Shift + F1 to search directly
  • Loved Labels → Items show if they’re “loved gifts” when you hover
  • Animal Tracker → Shows if you’ve petted your animals today

Maps & Navigation

  • NPC Locations → Open the in-game map to see NPCs, horses, players, and buildings
  • Options → Press Tab (or Y on controller) for map settings
  • Minimap → Enable an optional minimap, move it with Ctrl + Right-Click
  • Quick Glance → Press Home (keyboard) or Left Stick (controller) to zoom out, release to return

Tractor Tool Functions

When riding the tractor, tools work over a wide area:

  • Axe → clears twigs, weeds, dead crops, giant crops
  • Hoe → tills dirt, digs spots, clears weeds
  • Scythe → harvests crops, forage, fruit, grass, moss, tree seeds
  • Pickaxe → breaks rocks, clears dirt/weeds, collects mine items
  • Seeds → plants directly
  • Fertiliser → applies to crops and trees
  • Watering Can → waters crops, cools lava in volcano
  • Shears → collects wool
  • Milk Pail → collects milk
  • Weapons → break mine containers, cut dead crops/grass

Glossary (better understanding)

Mod
A “modification” - an add-on that changes or improves the game.

Collection
A bundle of mods grouped together. They install in one go, instead of you downloading each mod individually.

Nexus Mods App
A free mod manager that installs, updates, and organises mods for you. This collection is built to work with it.

SMAPI
The Stardew Valley modding framework that makes most mods work. It’s included automatically when you install this collection - no need to set it up yourself.

Keybind
A keyboard shortcut (like pressing B to open chests). You can change these in the settings if you prefer different keys.

Quality of Life (QoL)
Mods that don’t change the story or core of the game - they just remove busywork and make play smoother.

Vanilla
The game without any mods, exactly as it was released.

Config Menu
A settings menu where you can tweak how mods behave. You’ll find this via the cog icon on the title screen or the “mod options” button in-game.
