It adopts the composite metal process. The sword ridge and the blade were cast separately with bronze alloys of different compositions, achieving a perfect combination of rigidity and flexibility. After more than two thousand years, it is still extremely sharp, reflecting the superb sword - casting technology at that time. The sword body is covered with diamond - shaped dark patterns. Near the hilt on the front side, there are inscriptions in bird seal script that read "The sword used by Goujian, the King of Yue". The pommel of the sword is in the shape of a round hoop, concentric circles inside.
