The Mod
This is the IF mod from ASE we all know and love. This mod makes the birds soar through the sky instead of float like a drone (it gives the birds inertia and a concept of conservation of energy, with the speed calculations to include things like gravity, angle, etc). It makes flying incredibly fun to the point where sometimes you just want to take your bird for a ride just for the fun of flying!
How to use this mod
Convert your flyer!
There is a new engram called "evolver" you can learn. Craft it, feed it to one of the supported birds and it will convert it!
Take off
Press jump to get your initial jump into the air
Gain speed
- hold sprint to flap and gain speed
- aim down to use gravity to gain speed
Slow down
- Look up and let gravity slow you down
- Use drag forces to slow you down
- hold sprint and jump to flap backward like a bird
land
- while holding sprint and jump to slow down aim/look down. when your bird is close enough to the ground it will land regardless of speed (assuming it has the stamina)
- once your speed is low enough just touch the ground

Configuration
There is basic configuration now! You can add a section in your ini file using the names above and change the following
- FlapForce: acceleration(its 1500 by default for an argentavis)
- BrakeForceMultiplier: deceleration multiplier(its 3 for all creatures by default)
The Story
I loved the original immersive flight mod so much from ASE that when the Immersive Flight Ascended mod came out and it was not fun and the author has not been very attentive with previous versions. So I went hunting for the code and found it was open source. This is that open source code imported into ASA.
It turned out to be an older version of Immersive flight but I cleaned it up to be the Immersive Flight we all know and love for ASE...but for ASA! Since the Ascended name of immersive flight has been claimed i chose to use "classic" to represent that classic immersive flight feeling from ASE.
The current state of this mod
It's the beginning of me jumping into this mod. The mod is now stable and absolutely enjoyable in multiplayer yay!
It has the following known issues
- altitude indicator not working correctly
- fixed - issues with bird icons not showing correctly
- fixed - Rotation issues
- fixed - flight not working for multiplayer
- fixed - The bird it converts to is a low poly bird
- The pelegornis dive animation lets his feet hang out in a non-aerodynamic way
- When doing a temporary dive under water with the pelegornis its animations under water dont look like a pelican does in real life...i'll look into this for immersion purposes hahaha
- In multiplayer, others can hear the "wooshing" of other birds in proximity as if its their own creature
however, the mod is FUN and i have not come across a game breaking/ fun ruining bug.
The future of this mod
If there is interest (and/or at least a donation enough for me to buy a starbucks coffee as a pat on the back hahaha) I am willing to:
- documentation (a wikki or something that documents settings etc..)
- being forced to keep it updated with the latest ASA releases
- in progress expand this mod to support additional dinos (wyverns for example)
- fix bugs
- create a roadmap that outlines what and when things can be expected to be done
- done support crossplay
- when the time comes bring IF into the next ARK.
- maybe add a "hover" mode
