I regularly find the taming of queen bees to be quite frustrating. Bug repellant and Ghillie? Tried it. Sneaking? Tried it. Rush in? Tried it. Seems to be the best way of reliably getting one is to find a high ping server (if they're even spawning properly).
So with that mini rant over the goal of this mod is to provide an alternate but equilivant effort method of acquiring a Giant Queen Bee.
Bee Drone
10% of Titanomyrma (none flying) spawns are replaced by new nearly identical Bee Drones. There is also a much smaller chance they can replace the flying variants but the Bee Drone will still be non-flying. 50% of these drones will be holding a Queen Bee Larva.
Queen Bee Larva
The Queen Bee Larva works nearly identically to the Elderclaw's seed. Plant it in a large crop plot with 200% greenhouse affect and tend to it's needs. Once it's fully developed you will have your own Giant Queen Bee.
The items the larva will ask for when tending are:
- Rare Flowers
- Rare Mushrooms
- Sap
- Organic Polymer
- Bug Repellant
- Wood
Some important notes:
- The "effectivness" mechanic of tending the larva in the crop plot is only there to gate growth. The Queen Bee will always be your base level (level 5 in most cases) so the timer to tend the plot has been set exessivly large.
- The Queen Bee you acquire from the larva is the vanilla dino, removing this mod will not remove any Queen Bees or Hives obtained with it.
- All requirements for Lost Colony ownership should have been removed, it is my understanding that given this mod does not permit the usage of the elderclaw this should be fine. If you run into any issues regarding this please let me know. If I am incorrect and a mod using this "growing creature" mechanic does require Lost Colony ownership I will reenable it.
- If Queen Bee taming is disabled on your server the larva will never drop (why wou would want this I do not know but it's there).
