Fallen Heroes – Dino Headstones

Because our tamed dinos deserve more than just a death log.

Fallen Heroes automatically places a gravestone whenever one of your adult tamed dinos dies, marking the exact spot they fell with a custom headstone and carved epitaph.

Whether it’s your first starter Dodo or your max-leveled boss Rex, you’ll always know where they made their last stand.

What the mod does

🪦 Autoplaced headstones When an adult, tamed dino dies, a stone is spawned at the death location. No menus, no items, no extra keybinds – it “just happens”.

📜 Carved epitaphs Each gravestone shows:

  • Dino name
  • Species (e.g. Dodo)
  • Level at death
  • Who/what killed them (player, wild dino, or enemy tame)

Example: BOB Dodo – Level 150 KILLED BY: COMPY

🎲 Random headstone variants The mod uses multiple stone models and picks one at random, so your graveyard doesn’t look copy-pasted.

🎯 Accurate placement A line trace is used to drop the stone neatly onto the ground at the exact death position – even on slopes or uneven terrain.

⚖️ Purely cosmetic Fallen Heroes does not change stats, damage, spawns, loot, or progression. It’s purely a visual / emotional flavour mod.

Planned features / future ideas

Things I’d like to add in future updates:

🧱 Placeable Memorial Wall / Shrine that lists your fallen dinos with a small UI.

🧼 Optional auto-cleanup settings (max grave count, age limits, etc.).

🎨 More stone styles and theme variants.

FAQ

Q: Does this track babies or unclaimed dinos? No – only adult, tamed dinos get a headstone. Babies and wilds are ignored by design.

Q: Does it affect performance? The logic is very lightweight. The only thing that can build up is the number of physical stones in the world, which is why future updates may add cleanup / limits.

Q: Can I demolish the stones? Yes – headstones behave like structures and can be removed if you want to tidy up.
