Truly Permanent Titans

Makes Titans truly permanent.

WARNING: CURRENTLY DOES NOT SUPPORT CROSSPLAY. IF YOU HAVE A SERVER THAT ALLOWS ANYTHING OTHER THAN PC CONNECTIONS, OR ARE PLAYING SINGLEPLAYER ON CONSOLE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LOAD YOUR SERVER OR GAME. GIVEN THE EXTRA HOOPS REQUIRED TO UPLOAD CROSSPLAY-SUPPORTED MODS I AM UNDECIDED ON WHETHER I WILL SUPPORT CROSSPLAY, BUT IF THERE IS DEMAND I WILL CONSIDER IT.

Makes tamed Extinction Titans permanent by adding two consumables: one that provides automatic feeding and re-enables natural health regeneration, and one to remove these effects. Also enables Titans to be transferred more than once (consumable must be re-applied after each transfer to restore these effects).

The consumables are available at player level 2 for 0 engram points, costing 1 thatch to craft. To use, simply force feed to a tamed Titan.

This mod does not modify any creatures in any manner, and can be safely uninstalled without affecting anything. You may notice that you still have some of the effects (an additional available transfer and automatic health regeneration) if the buff was applied prior to uninstalling this mod. Normal behaviour will be restored after a transfer in this scenario.

I created this mod primarily for use in my own singleplayer playthroughs but decided to publish it for others to use. At the time of writing, while there are mods that deal with the titan hunger problem, there are currently no other mods for ASA that restore automatic health regen and the ability to freely transfer. Transfers in particular are a very difficult problem to solve.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • Particle effect sometimes visible on or around the Forest and Ice Titans.

  • Sporadic problems with the repeated upload functionality. If you find yourself unable to upload the Titan even with the buff applied, use the consumable to remove the buff and then reapply. I am exploring my options to determine whether this is fixable, but in the meantime this workaround is available. This issue most commonly appears after relogging in singleplayer (and this will likely extend to server restarts on dedicated).

Update: I've made a few attempts and have been unsuccessful in resolving this. This is either beyond my knowledge of the devkit or not solvable with the tools at my disposal. If you encounter any upload-related issues, removing and reapplying the buff will resolve them.

FAQ:

Q: Why does my dedicated server crash on startup with this mod installed?

A: Per my comment at the top, I have not submitted this mod for approval for crossplay; mods with console support have a more rigorous approval process. Even if you don't think your server is running crossplay (you made sure to remove the -crossplay option from your launch settings), it probably still supports it. You can explicitly disable it with: -ServerPlatform=PC

Q: My titan isn't regenerating health after applying the consumable. Why?

A: Ensure that you give it a bit of time, as this takes about 60 seconds to kick in. Due to the constraints of having regen functionality tied to a buff, it has to be on a timer. Note that this applies on relogs in singleplayer or server restarts on dedicated as well - the titan's regen will disappear initially, but will be re-enabled once the timer cycles again.

Note that food recovery does not have this same constraint, as the buff works the way a traditional ARK regeneration buff works, just on food instead of health. On the other hand, the health regeneration that occurs here is the re-introduction of the titan's own natural regeneration that's baked into its design, rather than me just creating a regeneration buff - this way it's faithful to the way that titans ordinarily regenerate and avoids being over (or under) powered.
