Find and tame the new Lycosuchus! Notable for its strong dual-saber teeth, Lycosuchus serves as an early game hunting "dog".
Craft multiple saddle attachments to suit your hunting style. Just try not to keep your new companion around too many critters. They tend to get a bit jealous when they aren't the center of attention.
How to Tame: Lycosuchus is an easy to tame creature, allowing players to approach and feed it. It is found in three variants, Standard, Aberrant, and Scorched, each with a unique color pattern. You can find them along the beaches, redwoods, and jungles, in the fertile zone on Aberration, and in the oasis and badlands on Scorched Earth.
Abilities:
Lycosuchus brings with it a couple of new abilities. First is its Lone Wolf buff. Lycosuchus prefers to live in solitude or small groups in the wild. When tamed this translates to a buff to Lycosuchus in smaller hunting parties, improving its stats when in small groups.
Second, Lycosuchus makes use of its deadly dual-saber teeth to inflict the Punctured debuff on targets. This debuff is only available if the Lycosuchus has the Lone Wolf buff. Punctured causes targets to take increased damage from a survivor's ranged weaponry, with smaller targets taking more damage than larger ones.
Third is the Lycosuchus' armor. You can equip a Lycosuchus with a basic "saddle" like most tames. While it can't be ridden, this "saddle" allows you then equip the Lycosuchus with additional attachments, each granting new buffs to your hunting companion.
Current Saddle Attachments:
Saddle Bags - Increase the carry weight while also reducing the weight of basic building resources
Extra Armor - Grants additional armor to the Lycosuchus, and some damage resistance to basic arms
Ghillie - Makes the Lycosuchus more stealthy, while also granting the ability to inflict a Stealth Attack, dealing 2.5x damage for the first hit in combat
