"Avali were originally a raptor-like, pack-hunting, ammonia-based lifeform with four sensitive ears and fluffy feathered bodies. Now they are a chimeric abomination developed through unusual evolutionary processes best described as an excruciatingly prolonged game of 'telephone.'"
Custom cosmetic to play as several different Avali. Highly optimized to keep texture memory usage as low as possible while retaining as much quality as possible.
HOW TO USE
- Select the 'Mods' option in the Ark: Survival Ascended main menu.
- Search for Avali and subscribe to this mod ingame.
- Restart your game after fully downloading and installing the cosmetic. It is REQUIRED that you restart every time the cosmetic updates! Otherwise it will not show up.
- In the game, open your Inventory and select the 'Cosmetics' tab at the top.
- Open up the Avali cosmetics folder on the right side in the 'Custom Cosmetics' section.
- 'Use' or drag any Avali to the chest slot or use it directly.
.
Conditional Overlays
- Avali visually becomes wet while standing in rain or while swimming and slowly dries when not.
- Avali visually becomes covered in sand as you remain in a sandstorm, jump into water or stand in rain to wash it off!
- Avali will visually get dirty and bloody. Scars, cuts and blood will appear.
Lifelike Behaviors
- Avali will visually show that its in pain and hurt. Facial expressions change to show the player its condition without looking at the UI.
- The eyes move and jitter around randomly as eyes do to breathe some more life into this fluffy fellow.
Body Features
- The tail, ears, hair, feathers and body have physics, interacting with the environment, structures and objects around, colliding with them.
- Avali are available in both a male and female version unless the specific author has chosen to gender lock them.
- All Avali come with a first person view model that reflects the feather color and patterns of the third person model as well as the damage, wetness and sanding overlays.
- Avali have a very faint reddish glow in their eyes when in the dark, what might they be scheming, they are raptors after all.
- Some future Avali may come with emissions, stripes or patterns that will glow in the dark similar to aberrant dinos.
- All Avali textures have been carefully optimized to keep the texture memory usage at a minimum. All Avali together use less memory than just the male human model alone for one of its AO textures alone. Most textures also have been carefully modified to reduce their filesize to a minimum in order to keep the mod size as small as possible while offering as much quality and quantity as possible.
Variations
- There are different Avali available, they come in different colors and patterns.
Available Variations:

Future Plans:
- Custom Death
- More variations
- Clothing
- Weapon/Item skins
Known Issues:
- All cosmetics with physics cast secondary capsule shadows onto objects nearby both in third person and first person. I cannot prevent this, the Capsule Shadow options in the Devkit Blueprint are being ignored. This can create overshadowing when prone and can cause weird shadows in first person. You can disable Capsule Shadows via the console command 'r.CapsuleShadows 0' as far as i'm aware nothing in the game uses Unreal's physics so it should be safe to disable without any negative visual impact.
Changelogs
Version 15
- Reuploaded as Crossplatform. Devkit wtf?
Version 14
- Swapped Body Physics Collision Channel from WorldStatic to OnlyCollideWithStationary to fix sea mines exploding your physics while nearby (should keep all other collisions with terrain, structures, beds etc)
Version 13
- Added Neopolitan's Sundae Avali.
Version 12
- Made Visper's Emissions much stronger.
Version 11
- Added Rasvim's Visper Avali.
Version 10

- Added Awle's Barn Owl Avali.
- Added Stock Concept Art Avali.

- Fixed Sandstorm not applying sand overlay over time.
- Fixed beer/troodon buff detection preventing the facial expression from working.
- Simplified blinking code.
Version 9
- Fixed facial expressions for when affected by beer and troodon poison.
- Cleaned up AnimBP code.

Version 8
- Improved some animation BP logic.
Version 7
- Fixed ears don't droop on low health.
- Majorly overhauled physics, better tail, less flipping, stiffer ears, more hair sway.
Version 6
- Fixed eyes missing textures due to Unreal secretly turning on/off Virtual Texturing on the newly added emission textures after optimizing (downscaling) them resulting in materials to fail compiling.
- Optimized newly added eye normal map... and this time made sure Unreal does not secretly change the texturing mode.
Version 5
- Added Normal Maps to eyes.
- Toned down and improved accidental emissives i left in, eyes will now be very slightly more bright in dark areas and the pupils will faintly glow reddish.
Version 4
- Fixed AnimBP not properly executing, resulting in eye movement, facial expressions and all overlay functions not to work at all.
- Fixed two more references to the Novabeast mod.
- Improved looks of eyes, made them more reflective and shinier to visually tell them better apart from everything else and to brighten them especially in dark places.
Version 3
- Fixed Nanite Material override set to none
- Fixed a single texture reference to another mod (that may have cause missing textures)
