Immersive Taming

A taming alternative that allows creatures to be tamed through in game actions vs traditional inventory items and timers.

Immersive Taming offers an alternative to Ark's vanilla taming methods, by allowing creatures to be tamed through in game actions vs traditional inventory items and timers.

Taming Milestones

  • Target Prevention - 25%
  • Hand and Corpse Feeding - 35%
  • Following - 45%
  • Caring - 55%
  • Gifting - 65%
  • Species Target Prevention - 75%
  • Protection - 85%

Taming Activites

  • Feeding bait to the dino - Hand feeding offers a configurable bonus as opposed to the dino eating it from the ground. Eating also heals the dino for a small amount. Hand feeding requires baits to be in the last item slot of the hotbar.
  • Corpse feeding - Dinos will only eat a corpse if it contains resources from a food bait that it eats. For example, if the dino eats raw meat bait and the corpse contains raw meat. Grants affinity equal to the bait type.
  • Petting the dino - Has a short interval between each pet and grants a small taming increase.
  • Caring for the dino - Can be cared for once the dino arrives at the player when following. Caring also heals the dino for a small amount (slightly more than feeding).
  • Attacking the dino's target - Damage to the dino's target is converted to affinity, and increases taming progress.
  • Protecting the dino from attackers - Damage to dinos that have targeted the dino being tamed is converted to affinity, and increases taming progress.
  • The dino protecting you - Small taming increases are granted when the dino protects you from an attacker.

Taming Methods

  • Passive - No requirements for dinos to be attracted to a bait, outside of having no aggro.
  • Requires KO - Requires dinos to be knocked out before being able to be attracted to a bait.
  • Requires Combat - Requires dinos to be presented with a trophy bait and defeated in combat before being attracted to non trophy baits.

Customization

Admins can customize the settings via Script Commands and the R Wheel -
  • cheat ScriptCommand ITSettings (Opens the Settings Menu for editing settings)
  • cheat ScriptCommand ITUpdate (Searches for new dinos)
  • cheat ScriptCommand ITReset (Resets Settings)
All players can access the following via the R wheel -
  • Open the Taming Journal (Opens the Journal Menu for viewing settings)
  • Toggle Auto Attach Balloons (Toggles auto attaching Bait Balloons when throwing baits)
  • Toggle Taming Glow VFX (Toggles hostility color based vfx for dinos being tamed)

Extra Info

  • All items are crafted in the Bait Station, which is unlocked at level 5 alongside Sparkpowder.
  • Dinos are automatically assigned bait preferences, taming methods and survivor level requirements based on their diet, temperament and saddle unlock level, with some manual tweaks for unique dinos. These can be changed in the Settings Menu.
  • If you want to disable default taming methods and have Immersive Taming be the only way to tame dinos, you need to enable the host session option in Game Rules > Creatures > Disable Default Taming or via Game.ini.
  • PreventDisableDefaultDinoTameClassNames can be repeated for any dinos that you don't wish to disable default taming on.

FYI

  • There are currently no plans to expand the mod. The only updates at the moment will be bug fixes.
  • The mod will be made crossplay after the initial batch of bugs are fixed.
