Atlantea Update APRIL

"The past is never dead. It's not even past." — William Faulkner

THANK YOU SURVIVORS IVE MET SINCE THE REDWOODS WAS A BARREN BATTLEGROUND ON THE ORIGINAL ISLAND MAP.

Zakariah is the one who wanders.

A lone survivor of a broken world… A thief of power, but a guardian of peace… A man forgotten by time, yet remembered in every legend whispered around a campfire…

Zakariah Srebla once walked among the architects of the ARKs as a narrative historian and visionary. When the Unity Engine—a core of Atlantea that once gave endless energy and bound every Ark together—was set to be weaponized in a civil war that threatened to consume all of Atlantea, Zakariah stole the Shards of Unity under orders from his dying mentor, Steven Lillian.

Branded a traitor by the Overseers and hunted by the Forgotten Ones, Zakariah sacrificed his name, his home, and his heart to scatter the shards across the multiverse. He abandoned love, left behind allies, and wandered the broken systems of ARKs as the worlds reset and decayed. He carries with him fragments of a lost age, memories that haunt him, and a dagger whose name is unspoken, forged from grief and purpose.

To some, he’s a myth. To others, a mistake. But to those who still believe in the dream of unity, Zakariah is hope, Etched in exile, and destined to return when the Crisis on Every Earth begins.

He is not a hero. He is not a god. He is a survivor. And he is not done yet….

Imagine if there was a true Atlantis, that didn’t sink by accident... What if it was humanity’s last great hope?

Before Earth fell to corruption and chaos, a group of dreamers built the ARKs.. testaments to survival. But one ARK didn’t rise to the stars away from the corruption... it sank. Deep beneath the ocean, hidden within myth and memory, it became something more than a sanctuary—it became a story. This is Atlantea.

Crafted from the dreams of creators, fueled by gamer culture, Atlantea was a living world... a paradise of biomes forged from imagination. But its heart, the Unity Engine, a device that allowed users to shape reality itself, corrupted the very soul it sought to protect. Power shifted to greed. Worlds were lost. And the greatest war known to civilization began.

Now, one man Zakariah, the One Who Wanders holds the key to restoring balance. Hunted across collapsing ARKs, betrayed by those he trusted, carries the last spark of humanity’s creativity: a shattered machine... a blueprint... and a journal of truth. The clock is ticking. The crisis is here. And what once was myth… is now our last salvation."

Prologue: Among the Sea & Stars *(From the pages of Atlantea: The One Who Wanders)

Before the obelisks rose to guide survivors, before the Titans reshaped Earth into a graveyard of Element corruption, before humanity scattered itself across the stars—there was a dream. A dream that life, even when threatened with extinction, could not just survive it could thrive.

A dream that the best of humanity’s ingenuity and spirit could outlast the worst of its mistakes.

The ARKs were that dream, built in desperation as Earth fell to technology's relentless tide. But while their story is known to some, hidden beneath the waves of history is the tale of one ARK... ARK-097 ATLANTEA... The ARK that dared to dream it’s own dream…

This is the story of Atlantea.

The Fall of Earth

Atlantea, officially dubbed IN THE URE database as ARK-097, was born from a vision of dreamers. Funded by the dreams of gamers, storytellers, and creators alike who even when the world was ending spent their time supporting that dream, their dream. The company in-charge offered spots aboard its ARK at an affordable price, selling it as a paradise for those who had fueled its industries. Instead of orbiting the Earth, Atlantea would be the heart of a set of 4 custom arks that would sink deep beneath the ocean, hidden within the waves. A triangle, a perfect 360° in its own right, with Atlantea at the center.

Unlike the other ARKs, which recreated Earth’s biomes or ancient civilizations, Atlantea drew inspiration from humanity’s love for storytelling and adventure. Its biomes were crafted from the worlds of gaming culture: vast deserts dotted with ruined cities, lush forests filled with fantastical beasts, and towering cliffs overlooking meadows of crystalline flowers. The ARK itself was a sprawling city of glass and steel, a tribute to one of humanities greatest stories: the myth of Atlantis.

At its core lay the Unity Engine, a groundbreaking invention developed after the ARKs had left Earth. Unlike the Overseer systems, which operated independently, the Unity Engine could link directly to the implants of survivors, granting them the power to influence their surroundings, draw on untapped resources, and even bend the rules of the ARK creating weapons or tools from the energy it provided, from the energy it also siphoned from all who live on it, Community, Survivors…. Unity, however, that proved to be a double-edged sword…

At first, Atlantea thrived. Survivors from all walks of life came together, united by the dream of preserving humanity’s creativity and culture. The ARK’s higher-ups a mix of Atlantis executives and a council of the world’s best gamers acted as its stewards, ensuring that the Unity Engine was used responsibly.

But absolute power corrupts… absolutely… always.

At the center of this conflict was the architects of the unity engine, Zakariah Srebla’s & Steven Lillian. Those men, protege and mentor, helped forge the unity engine itself after their burial beneath the sea who rose to glory when the original subsystems had not accounted for the King Kraken, the Titan of the Sea’s bashing on their ARK. They had envisioned Atlantea as a sanctuary, a living library of humanity’s greatest creations ever changing and always growing. But now, they saw his dream tearing itself apart. Biomes were destroyed. Stories and worlds they had worked so hard to preserve were erased. Survivors reduced to slaves and robotics being forged from the infinite energy.

Distraught, Steven made an unthinkable choice. He sent Zakariah armed with the best inventions he had to offer to steal the core of the unity engine and bring it to him so that they could enact safeguards and end the war themselves, but there was a larger plan at play. One the mentor, Steven only let onto Zakariah when the time was right.

Zakariah stole the Unity Engine’s core, the heart of Atlantea’s power, and was pursued across the cities crags, valleys forgotten, and the boastful beaches filled with ones who want to try again, by robots, raiders, and survivors alike until Steven finally opened up his commlink again.

He let Zakariah listen to the higher ups, people he respected screaming at Steven, threatening to lock him up and throw away the key unless he gave them the source code to fully unlock the core. In a final act of defiance Steven gave them a faulty code that in-turn caused an explosion leveling the entire skyscraper they once called their lab, their home. Killing all those who came before them that were there, as well as Steven, himself.

As Zakariah fled, the Overseers of Atlantea and the corrupted higher-ups not taken in Steven’s final blaze of defiance pursued him. They would stop at nothing to retrieve the shards and reclaim their god-like hold over Earth & their survivors dominion.

The ARKs’ Diverging Paths As Zakariah, now dubbed the One Who Wanders, journeyed across the ARKs, the events of the wider ARK story unfolded:

  • The survivors of The Island defeated the Overseer and discovered the truth of their artificial world.
  • Scorched Earth/Aberration revealed the devastation Element could cause in its purest form and exposed the ARKs’ fragility, with survivors battling corrupted monstrosities in a broken world.
  • On Extinction, survivors returned to Earth to confront the Titans and purge Element from the planet, beginning the reclamation process thus bringing Atlantea back from the depths of the sea, to the surface-world, still full of power hungry survivors and raiders of other worlds alike.
  • Meanwhile, the Genesis ships departed for Andromeda, carrying humanity’s backup plan deep to the stars.

The Library Beneath the Waves Atlantea, however, sank deeper into chaos. The failsafe Ark atmospheric never lifted without the unity engines power. Even as the Titan’s were vanquished and the ARKs returned home. Its biomes deteriorated without the Unity Engine, and the survivors who remained fought over what little power was left. What had once been a tribute to humanity’s greatest achievements became a battleground of greed and despair.

Scattered throughout the ARKs sent to space were fragments of the Unity Engine and the Wanderer’s journal—a guide to reclaiming Atlantea’s legacy. These pages, filled with drawings, maps, and accounts of creatures and survivors, held the clues needed to find the shards and reignite the fire within community.

Zakariah, The One Who Wanders… #7

The Prophecy

A deal you seek, and so it’s made,
Chaos and order, a game long played.
Trust in the balance, but fear their call,
For without one, the other will fall.

Know this… As storms gather, the skies break,
And a price will be paid for the steps you take.
The gates must be shut, the beasts laid low,
And the engine reforged where none dare go.

So go now, trust, but always beware,
For chaos stirs when you are unprepared.
The ARKs are now yours to steer,

But tread with great care— because the crisis… is here.

Zakariah #17; The One Who Wanders

Final Excerpt from Zakariah's Journal

I have seen the darkest (k)nights fall and men of iron and steel burn. I have witnessed the strongest wills break, and the bravest hearts shatter. This was my punishment, my penance for maintaining the order. They believed it would stop me, bind me, break me. Perhaps, in the end, they were right. I survived not for myself, but for all of you until survival was no longer an option.

Within these scattered pages contain the secrets and the true power of the obelisks. They are scattered across worlds, hidden from those whom seek to misuse them. No single entity, not even one of the Forgotten, can wield them to reshape history; not now. Not even me. I ensured that.

If you have gathered all the pages; you hold in your hands the culmination of my life’s work—and my deepest regret. The knowledge contained within these pages is immense, capable of unraveling the fabric of the very dimension we all call home at its’ core.

I can only hope whomever finds them, to whatever tribe gathered them all, I pray.. you are stronger than I was. For this power, if left unchecked, will bring nothing but ruin. I have done all I can to protect the balance. Now, as I face the end, broken and forgotten, I leave this final task to you.

Survive…

Maybe you will succeed where I failed.
